Whole school Organics Recycling program combining Bokashi and Vermicomposting.
We will show you how to conduct a waste audit and assess the amount of organic waste generated, in order to design an organics recycling program, to meet your specific needs.
We provide a fully operational and robustly constructed worm farm designed for school organic waste recycling. It is specifically for outdoor use and still retains a controlled environment for your worms.
The package includes:
- Compost worms, which are fully bedded (ie. breeding).
- Bokashi (organic odour control agent) for use in bins used to collect food waste.
- In conjunction with this the school can create their own vegetable garden and use the worms by-products to promote healthy growth in plants for use in the school canteen
- Comprehensive training is provided including free educational materials
Option 2 - Whole School Bokashi
Whole school Organics Recycling program using Bokashi only.
The Bokashi recycling process allows schools to transform organic waste into a natural resource, students become the "recyclers" and are made aware of organic waste as a potential resourcerather than something to be thrown away and forgotten.
- They learn through direct experience that they personally can make a difference and have apositive effect on the environment.
- As in option one, a waste audit is conducted to assess the amount of organic waste generated to determine the number of Bokashi bins required.
- We will show you how to economically make your own bokashi bins and bokashi.
Option 3 - Single Class Bokashi / Vermicomposting
Class Organics Recycling program using Bokashi or Vermicomposting
For schools who would like to start with a single class project using Bokashi, Vermicomposting or both.
How Does The Bokashi Recycling System Work?
Bokashi is a fermented compost starter made from wheat bran and EM (effective microorganisms), a mixed culture of naturally occurring beneficial microorganisms.
Using this organic fermentation process the Bokashi bin recycles ALL your school's food waste into valuable soil conditioner without the problems of odour, heat or insects and can be used to improve the soil in your school garden
This system can be easily used in an indoor environment, making it a simple and pleasant task for schools to recycle their food waste.
